Big Breaking | SC Advocate files Complaint against Papon before National Commission for Protection of Child Rights

Guwahati/New Delhi, Feb 22: In a major development in the ongoing controversy regarding a viral video featuring popular Singer Angaraag Papon Mahanta, a team of advocates have filed a complaint before the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) alleging that the singer has committed a sexual offence on a minor girl child, a participant of the reality show, Voice of India Kids 2018.
Supreme Court Advocate Runa Bhuyan has sent a letter addressing the Chairperson of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) filed the complaint against Papon on the grounds of sexual offence on a minor girl participating in a reality show ‘Voice of India Kids 2018’.
“I am shocked to see the behavior of the said singer Angarag Papon Mahanta towards a minor girl where he is seen to be applying colours on a minor girl and inappropriately kissing the said girl. On seeing the video I am seriously concerned regarding the safety and security of minor girls participating in reality shows in India.” (sic) the letter read.
The Advocate while pleading to the NCPCR for an enquiry further asked for the singer to be punished under section 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act 2012.
